Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance by reconciling payroll data in a timely manner. The Payroll Specialist must be detail-oriented and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Calculate salaries, deductions, and benefits, and process new hires and terminations.
- Keep employee data, wage information, and tax documents accurate and organized.
- Prepare payroll reports, including income tax returns.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll questions.
- Ensure payroll complies with tax regulations, labor laws, and company policies.
- Review payroll data and documents for errors and inefficiencies.
- Processing and issuing W-2 forms to employees.
- Enter garnishments and respond to garnishment notices.
- Ability to maintain employee confidentiality.
- Performs other functions assigned by management, as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED certificate
- 2+ years’ experience in an accounting-related position
- Able to communicate and work with cross-functional managers/supervisors
- Knowledge of accounting and payroll
- Must have proficient computer skills Microsoft Office
- Experience with Quickbooks online (preferred)
